Eutectic plates

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

20090915 Eutectic plates, also known as cold plates, have been used in the transport industry for many years. They are charged overnight with an electric powered refrigeration compressor while a truck is parked. The next day, the truck is un-plugged, and the shipment is keep cold all day with the re-usable eutectic solution inside the plate.

It is just that simple. Dole Refrigerating Co. will help you estimate the hardware needed for your next truck body or to retrofit your current body. Visit their website www.doleref.com for more information.

What are Holdover Plates?

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Holdover plates are stainless steel units that contain an evaporator coil surrounded by a liquid solution.  The solution freezes as the compressor runs.  The frozen solution will  continue to absorb heat even after the compressor shuts off.  Holdover plates can significantly reduce energy consumption.

Dole’s Eutectic Holdover Plates are the answer for mobile refrigeration and are the alternative to mechanical refrigeration systems. Dole’s holdover plates are designed to maintain a constant temperature, or holdover, throughout the course of a day. The plates are then “recharged” by connecting them to a condensing unit. After charging, the holdover plates are ready to maintain refrigerating temperatures for an entire work cycle.
